Taste of the Nation

Another Success

Vancouver’s premier annual culinary benefit for hunger relief was another great success.

More than 650 people turned out for this year’s 11th Annual Taste of the Nation. Presented by American Express, Taste was held May 10 in Enterprise Hall at the Plaza of Nations.

“Many of the participants and attendees were thrilled with this year’s Taste. The Plaza of Nations will definitely be considered for next year’s venue and new restaurants and wineries are already inquiring about being included,” says John LeMare, co-chair of Taste.

“Many positive comments were also received from the attendees about the variety of restaurants and the high quality of the food, as well as the excellent entertainment from Les is More and Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne.  Everybody enjoyed the silent auction featuring the signature piece “Food is Art” by Jan  Smart, and donations from over a dozen local artists.  Overall, the event was an unqualified success, taking in more than $50,000. Plans are already underway to capitalize on the success of this year’s event to ensure that Taste of the Nation will be an even greater success in 2002,” he says.

60 of Vancouver’s top restaurants and beverage companies participated in this very popular food and beverage charity fundraiser. For further information visit the Taste Web site at www.tastevancouver.ca.
